Having started horseback riding at 10 years of age,Putri Alia quickly became competetive in the equestrian disciplines of dressage ,showjumping and eventing.As a junior ,her passion was showjumping but she soon came to see the refined elegance of dressage.
Ever since 2000,she has competed regularly in dressage at the national level and keeps pushing the level of dressage in the country higher.She has proudly represented her country at the Kuala Lumpur 2001 SEA Games and 2002 Busan Asian Games,Korea,the 2006 Doha Asian Games,the 2007 Korat SEA Games in Thailand and at international meets in Europe.
With that,Putri Alia Soraya has established herself as a senior member of the Malaysian equestrian team in the discipline of DRESSAGE. She has been training in the Netherlands with Rien van der Schaft since October 2006.With her horse Odurin,she has competed in the Light Tour classes (Prix St George and Intermediare 1 ) amongst European and International riders and shown much growth as an athlete.
Her goal is primarily to learn the skills to ride and compete at Grand Prix level and to be able to train horses and riders in the correct school of dressage , in order to build up the next wave of successful dressage riders representing Malaysia.
